2016 Water/Wastewater and Transportation Conferences in Charlotte, NC: The 2016 Design-Build in Transportation Conference will be held on April 18-20; the Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conference will be held on April 20-22. Both conferences will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center; registration is currently open and early bird rate ends March 4. Annual Conference Call for Presentations Available: DBIA will open the Call for Presentations this week for the 2016 Design-Build Conference & Expo. All applications must be completed online here and the deadline to submit is March 21st. Legislative Update: SB 465 passed the Virginia Senate Committee on Transportation last Friday; it would allow Alternative Technical Concepts (a DBIA Best Practice) on VDOT & Rail and Public transportation projects. Its companion bill HB 501, is awaiting a hearing in the House. On Tuesday, Feb. 2nd at 3:00 pm; legislation drafted by DBIA will be heard before the Missouri Senate Commerce Committee. The bill; substitute version of SBs 595 & 789, would authorize all local governments to use design-build. Legislation was also introduced in the Nebraska legislature authorizing the use of design-build and CMGC on transportation projects.
